What's Expo?

Every February since 1998, the Society of Women Engineers Wichita Section and the WSU College of Engineering have put on an Engineering Expo to show kids in grades K-8 how cool engineering can be!

Expo features fun hands-on activities showcasing diffenert fields of engineering at various booths. You can stop in any time and try something, and go to whatever booths you're interested in. It runs for several hours but you can drop in any time. Just don't wait until almost closing time - you will find something that is interesting to you.

There is no registration or cost involved. Expo is free for kids and parents!

Parents should stay with children throughout the activities.

Many booths have items that kids make and bring home with them.

We also have workshops during the event for kids in 6th - 8th grade. They are completely free, but you do need to get a ticket when you arrive. Stay tuned for a workshop list and schedule.

Expo is a celebration of Engineers Week! Learn more about Engineers Week and engineering at eweek.org.

There's a little bit of everything at Expo! We feature new booths, and new ways of setting up existing booths too. So if you've been before, keep coming back! The purpose of expo is to teach kids about the different fields of engineering.

We've developed a good group of organizations from the community who bring their activities to Expo. These include:

  • American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics - Wichita Section
  • Cloudbusters
  • Cosmosphere
  • Kansas Aviation Museum
  • National Weather Service
  • Terracon
  • Wichita Homeschool Team - Kansas BEST Robotics Competition
  • Wichita State University
