The society committees are looking for members for FY14. Joining a committee is a good way to see how things work at the society level and get to know people outside our section.

The Communications committee is at work updating the Wichita SWE website based off of your comments. Stay tuned for some improvements to the website! Any additional feedback can be sent to the committee chair.

There are specific openings in Membership, Fund Development, Awards, Communication, Expo Planning, and Networking Event committees. To find out what the different responsibilities are or to sign up let Allison Wright know. She can get you in touch with the correct committee chair or officer in charge of the position. Big and small jobs are available. Also if you have a passion for something not listed, we would love to hear about it and see if we can make it a reality.
SWE Wichita is establishing a Professional Development Committee for the upcoming fiscal year. The mission of this committee is to provide section members with monthly professional development opportunities by offering interesting and relevant meetings, workshops, tours, and events that incorporate a variety of interests. We have a lot of fun activities and events scheduled in the coming months. Check the calendar for dates. The outreach committee is always looking for new people and ideas. Any involvement is welcome. We can use your help for an hour or a year – your choice.
Anyone interested in planning new activities or helping with existing ones, please contact Barbara at barbara.davis@swe.org. We can work out a time to meet. I plan to have a list of ideas at the next meeting on September 12, so come ready to discuss them. If you can’t come, please send me your thoughts and ideas.
This year’s General Meetings will be held the second Monday of each month to discuss our goals, plans, and direction. Formerly known as EC (executive committee) meetings, the overall intent of these meetings is to discuss broad issues of interest to the membership. Detailed planning will be left to the assigned committees, meeting leaders, or EC. Anyone is welcome to attend and provide input! Scholarship Chair
Coordinates WSU scholarship award. Works with WSU Engineering Dept liaison to notify/request student applications. Selects committee to review applications & select recipient. Notifies recipient & WSU Scholarship Foundation. Sends notification letters to those not chosen. Invites recipient to Spring Banquet for presentation of award certificate.
Membership Chair
Responsible for managing section membership, including renewals and recruitment. Reviews National membership list for accuracy and changes on an ongoing basis. Follows up with new and potential members.
